Cherry Coffee Cake


1 cup butter or margarine
1½ cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1½ teaspoons baking powder
1 can cherry pie filling

1½ cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla


Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each. Add vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt and add to mixture. Spread 2/3 of dough in a greased jelly roll pan (10½” x 15½”). Cover with pie filling and spoon the rest of the batter on top.

Bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 350° F. Add warm milk to glaze to make a thin consistency. Drizzle this glaze on top while cake is still warm.
